Just like other types of educational resources, there are free Boom decks and paid Boom decks. However, students do not need Boom Learning accounts in order to play. ( Click HERE to read a step-by-step blog post on creating your FREE Boom Learning account.) Teachers are required to have a free Boom Learning account in order to assign Boom Cards to their students. □ Is it free to use Boom Cards?īoom cards require an Internet connection and a modern Internet browser in order to assign or play. ![]() Click HERE and scroll down to “membership plans” to learn more.)īut remember, students will always get immediate feedback when they play, even if you are using a free teacher account. ![]() Tracking student data and generating progress reports does require a premium Boom Learning account. You can open up the “Reports” tab in Boom and see exactly how your students scored on their decks. That means you don’t have to sit and “grade” 25 Google Slides™️. Well, with premium Boom accounts, teachers can get student data and progress reports. Remember how I said that students get immediate feedback when they play? □ Boom Cards and Student Data/Progress Reports With Boom, if a deck is intended to have audio, the audio remains, no matter how you choose to assign your Boom Cards. However, if I share Google Slides™️ with audio with another teacher, and they want to use it on another platform (like Seesaw), the audio disappears. Now, other online learning platforms, like Google Classroom™️, allow you to incorporate audio. This is especially helpful for students who are working without a parent at their side, or students whose parents do not speak English. When students click on the image on the bottom left, they hear the word “red.” Students can click on a picture (see the video above) and hear the word. That’s why I love adding audio to my digital resources. Get feedback so you can find what works best and how the students engage most effectively. The second reason I love Boom Cards is because it is so easy for the creator (that’s me!) to incorporate audio.Ĭlip art is cute and all, but what happens with a student doesn’t know what the picture is? While you'll be able to assess a student's performance, that won't tell you how they found a deck. From students within a class progressing up to cards across year groups, don't let your creations go to waste. This lets students follow along, with audio where available, learning as they go and being assessed so you know they've taken it all in.īe sure to organize your cards so you can use any again. Make cards that tell a story, such as how to properly affix safety gear in a science class, for example. ![]() PowerPlus, at $30 per year, offers seven classes, 150 students, unlimited self-made decks, live monitoring, and the ability to create with sounds. Power, at $25 per year, gets you five classes, 150 students, unlimited self-made decks, and live monitoring. Starter gets you free access to decks for a single class, with five students and five self-made decks.īasic, at $15 per year, offers three classrooms and 50 students, with five self-made decks. There are four tiers to Boom Cards access: Starter, Basic, Power, and PowerPlus. There is also the option to overlay sound, making for a great way to offer accessible learning but also for guidance to students learning remotely. This service is called Hyperplay and is available on several plan levels including Basic, Power, and PowerPlus.īoom Cards can be assigned through Google Classroom, making it very easy to use for schools already setup within that system. Since you can send Boom Cards to individual students or groups, it can make for targeted learning and classwide assessments. This is a sort of try-before-you-buy situation in which you can then pay for a deck if you like what's on offer. Despite the best options being in the paid-for service, there is the choice to access up to five self-made decks for free. ![]() ![]() He was selected to participate in the WWAMI Medical Program and received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine.įollowing graduation from medical school, he completed internship training at the Sacred Heart Medical Center Transitional Residency in Spokane, Washington. There are some RF power transistors and other odd parts that I have to do footprints for, and they often have duplicate pin assignments. The normal case I have seen (or made) footprints with two pads with the same pin number are SOT223s, etc. If you would like more information about identifying components and building up circuits, please see my article “ What You Need to make the Electronic Circuits at Bright Hub.You don't have to change the footprint - footprints define pin numbers for the package, and the pin/symbol associations are defined in the symbol. T11, T14 = 2N3055 (Mount over large finned-type heatsink)įuse, Mains Cord, Metallic Enclosure, Switch, External Sockets etc. T13 = BD139 (Mount over “C” channel heatsink) T10 = BD140 (Mount over “C” channel heatsink) You will require the following parts to build this 100w transistor power amplifier schematic design.Īll resistors are 1/4w, CFR unless otherwise specified. ![]() The current consumption may shuffle in between 1 and 3 Amp depending on the volume level of the unit. ![]() The output inductor L1 is made by winding 20 turns of 0.8 mm super enameled copper wire right over the resistor R24. The output stage of the circuit is virtually unaffected by temperature variations, however ideally T8, T9 and T7, T12 may be coupled with each other (by gluing them together) to enhance thermal stability of the circuit. ![]() Preferably use separate heatsinks for the transistors T10, T11, T13, T14, to avoid the involvement of messy mica isolators, heatsink paste, etc. Important Technical Parameters to be FollowedĪlthough the circuit parameters are not critical and may be built over a general purpose board, care should be taken that the component layout does not differ from the circuit diagram by much. The quiescent current can be set through P1 with a digital multimeter connected across resistors R6 and R7.Īdjust P1 until the meter reads about 40 mV, corresponding to 50 mA current. The frequency characteristics lie in between 1 dB from 15 Hz to around 100 kHz.ĭue to its very high amplification factor of around 20,000, the output stage may have an ideally low quiescent current drain of about 40 mA. The input sensitivity is in the vicinity of 750 mV. Total harmonic distortion is less than 0.01 %.įrequency range is within 20 Hz and 20 kHz. Power output is 60 watts into 8 Ω and 100 watts into 4 Ω loudspeaker. The remaining portion of the circuit is mainly the output stage and is responsible for amplifying the differential stage into the loud speakers. Transistor T1 and T2 are wired up in a standard differential amplifier mode. The presence of R2 and C2 ensures no frequency above 250 KHz makes its way into the circuit, thus blocking most of the high frequency RF intrusions. C1 also functions as an input stage DC bias isolator. R1 and R2 fix the input impedance, and the inclusion of C1 creates a high-pass filter that blocks all frequencies around 1.5 Hz. The input stage employs the standard R/C filter configuration. Transistors T9, T10, T11 and T12, T13, and T14 form two well-balanced halves of the circuit, perfectly complementing each other. However a closer look will prove this wrong. Circuit DescriptionĪt the first glance the circuit rather appears to be unsymmetrical in design, due to an unbalanced looking output stage. I have personally tested this circuit and believe me its response is outstanding, build a couple of them and it becomes compatible with stereo inputs- that also means now you are producing 200 watts of brain-pounding music power. If all the connections are done accurately as shown in the diagram, the circuit should immediately start “pumping” your loud speakers with a high quality music output. The entire circuit utilizes commonly available components and may be simply built over a general purpose board. If we compare the simplicity of the proposed 100w transistor power amplifier schematic design to its power output, which is a good 100 watts, indeed it looks very impressive. |
